As I look back on my 1 word resolutions for the last few years (I started this after seeing it on Twitter… possibly from Meredith White or Annabelle Allen), I have to laugh. In 2020, my word was JOY. It was NOT easy to find joy post March 14th of that year… but having the goal in place helped me SEEK joy in the midst of a total disaster on all fronts.
This year, I was torn. I had three words floating around and had a hard time picking one… but I’ve settled on abundance. I want to go into this year with an abundance of patience for my students, an abundance of support from my admin, an abundance of opportunity for the students in my class through the Seal of Biliteracy and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, an abundance of opportunity for me to work with teachers, an abundance of opportunity to create, an abundance of love and time with my family and friends, and an abundance of opportunity to bless those around me.
It’s not that I don’t have an abundance of some of these things, I want to FOCUS on that abundance. I think it will make me more grateful and will help me seek more opportunities to let that abundance overflow to everyone I am in contact with this year.
What is your word this year? What does it mean to you?
